Hello!

I have been teasing people with panels from my comic for a few months now and, behold! it's here! I went through all the preproduction hell and tried to do a 3d world for it and eventually I scraped it (but that's for another story....) and it's on Webtoons for people to read and enjoy.

I will be fair and admit that the competition they are currently having on the platform motivated me to post it. I did take out one story line from the comic because, for the one-shot I did there, it would have ended up dropped and lost all purpose.

Emergence:

I begin with drawing a cat eared girl. Then I started exploring the concept with a fox, rabbit, sheep and goat... As I was working on the drawings, I started wondering where they would live, how they would interact, the personalities they have.... and here it was! I had characters. As most of my characters were dressed in something to resemble medieval attire, there it was... medieval like world, whit a number of adjustments, because I did not respect any particular time period per se.

Start:

I outlined the story as it goes and left it for some time... read it, reread it, concluded it works and began the fixes... Once this was done I started looking for where to post it and what format to have it. I was certain it will be digital, so... when stumbled on the Webtoons competition and thought this is a good place.

Problems:

I created matching characters for each design, because it was interesting to explore that and... since I couldn't settle for doing one single species and I added them all, it leaves it open for interpretation. That I believe in look-alike people pairings and such... I liked Zootopia a lot and I hope people will not misunderstand my work. It's been done before, I am no revolutionary here. I also had second thoughts on keeping the characters with the animal-based names they have now: like the bunny girl is called 'Bunny', the cat girl is called 'Cat'... and so on. It would have been easy to drop some names in there, but the names are symbolic representations of their roles in the comic. Such as:

* one is the pray: the rabbits,

*one is cunning/smart: the fox,

*some are explorers: the cats... etc.

And they all prove to be more than what they are labeled to be, because that is what my story is about.

Surprises:

I had fun with the backgrounds. They were so enjoyable! I didn't expect it to have the number of panels for the competition, so when I ended up with 5 episodes I was so happy.

This was my short walk trough my work process. The comic is a one-shot complete. Do I have more on the characters and their adventures? YEES! After the competition ends I will slowly continue the story. Still, I will lover the number of pannels per post or I will post less frequently... I haven't decided on that yet.

In the ending, maybe you will walk away from all of my thoughts and enjoy the comic as it is.

I'm reading and watching online free courses... there are some. they give you no diploma but you still learn stuff. mostly no one will care what I learn without a diploma, but... that's old news.

Just finished reading The Night Circus and it definitely is a book I can reread. Might do some fanart of the characters since I have time...
